Have you ever blamed someone else for your own BS… their tone for your reaction, their negligence for your addiction, their success for your own failure or self-loathing? This, my lovelies, is your Cain and Abel moment.  What did you (or will you) do with it?  Will you learn and grow or will you fight until you destroy them?  Fact or fiction, the story of Cain and Abel is both allegorical and metaphysical.  Of course, the story of these two brothers, real, historical, or by invention, can guide our own interactions and increase awareness of our own potentials for inner darkness.   But more importantly, the metaphysics of this story are key to one of many locks along the path to spiritual awakening.

Loneliness – Podcast 51

Along the spiritual path there usually comes a time when we realize that the people around us aren’t on the page we are and that many of them have no desire to be. We feel “lonely”, because we no longer feel understood.  This sensation is a requirement of life school.  As long as we are here on the earth, we will be forced into places and circumstances of which we have little control, where there are few who see us clearly.  This “loneliness” is something that many encounter on the path to awakening despite the fact that we are never truly alone.  Yes, we long for spiritual connection, and that’s ok.  We long for it, because we happen to remember what it feels like.  It is a beautiful thing, but we are not going to feel it every day all the time with every person in every circumstance.  In Lesson 51, we talk about filling and, more importantly, understanding the void.

Walking on Water - Lesson 37 Rewind

We have the ability to walk on water every day, to facilitate change in our lives and the world by our actions, our intentions, our words, and the thoughts we allow to dominate our minds. In Episode 37, we discuss the metaphysical meaning of Jesus’ partnership with the disciples and the story we all know of how he walked on water and rescued Peter when he failed to do so.  When viewed through a historical and metaphysical lens, this is a story of overcoming. It is spiritual and political and, above all, it is a message of rising above human thoughts, beliefs, and enculturalization. This week, we're "Walking on Water" and the monsters beneath the surface can't touch us!

Ninjas Hate Crunchy Leaves – Rewind

Awakening is a process of review and release.  We must learn all we can, let the circumstance (and sometimes the people) fall away, and then make sure we are not carrying the dead leaves around with us through the rest of our experiences. In Fall, the trees offer us a brilliant reminder that as we let go the things we are releasing will do everything in their power to make us sit up, take notice, and hold on.  It is a reminder that just as the trees take every last bit of life from the things they hold on to, we too must prepare to learn, let go, and be freed.  As we awaken, things come to the surface to be released.  Many times they go kicking and screaming, and often they look quite appealing.   They turn red and orange.  They turn bright to grab our attention, to look important and like we need them, but what we really need to do is appreciate what they were, then allow them to dry up, fall off, and blow away.  Ninjas Hate Crunchy Leaves is a call to action.  Let’s do this!

My Princess Wears Cleats, a conversation about fear – Podcast 50

Harm is real, danger is real, broken hearts and broken bones are real, but fear is an illusion… Fear is the shell we put around our other emotions as if it has some intrinsic power that is of itself both powerful and oddly protective.  We give it dominion over our lives and experiences; but if we peel away the layers, we will find that our fears are false, empty, and hollow.  Like a Russian doll when the core has been taken away, after dissection, our fears become either toys or trash.  Freedom from fear and self-limitation are the hallmarks of any truly enlightened soul, and yet may be most easily understood from the viewpoint of my eight year old daughter.  A queen in her own right, my girl is fearless; and if she can do it, we can, too.

We all know New Year’s Day is an arbitrary date, but none can deny its potential for growth, change, and release. Apathy is a Four Letter Word – Podcast 47

Apathy is a four letter word far more offensive than the ones people give me sh*t for saying on the air.  It is a thief that robs us of joy, interest, and meaning.  Breaking its monotonous cycle is a necessary endeavor for the awakener and is far easier than one might think.   It is one choice at a time.  It is the realization that you no longer need to be confined to the prison of your own creation, because the prison itself never existed in the first place.  In Lesson 47, I invite you to shatter the glass ceiling you have placed over your life, so opportunity can find you.
